Judgments and Conflicts – The World is Ruled by Letting Things Take Their Course
What you experience is filtered through your senses and forms your perception of the world. As you experience the world, you begin to make value judgments about your experience. What is valuable is only valuable in you. Your judgments of what is good or bad are created by the ego as a way to justify your personal identity. The ego fears that it will lose control if you don’t make comparisons that support its unique view of the world.
In fact, ego can be reduced a bit by accepting the belief that all people are equal in your own importance in the world. The difference is an exclusive mind versus an inclusive mind. For example, everyone has an opinion on political issues. This opinion is formed by several factors. Your personal beliefs about society, your sense of right and wrong, and the impact of government policy on your personal situation. Now suppose your opinion is so strong that you believe that everyone who disagrees with you is either stupid or evil. This would be an extreme example of a unique mind. This attitude can describe a conservative or a liberal. It doesn’t matter how you label it, it’s still unique and excludes the possibility of anyone else having a valid opinion. An inclusive mind is one that treats all opinions as equally valid. No one opinion is better or worth more than another. An inclusive mind can recognize that everyone has something to contribute to the discussion.
The way to start experiencing this awareness is to start watching your thoughts when you start comparing yourself to anything else in the world. If you catch yourself making a decision, question that thought. The criterion is whether your decisions create tension or create harmony for yourself and everyone involved. Every opinion and decision has an impact on someone, sometimes subtle and sometimes dramatic. The ego always makes decisions to protect itself without considering anyone else. This mindset is called selfish because it is self-centered. As awareness increases, you can begin to think about others. Your consciousness expands and you begin to feel connected to others.
Everything is made of the same unified energy field; All things, all activities are of equal value. All thoughts always come on time, never late or early. The unity of the present moment carries all the potential of the world. You can relax and let things happen and know that you are always whole and complete. Stress can be released by letting go of any stressful thoughts in your mind. See the thoughts as they fly, see what they are. Let go of conflicting thoughts. Life will unfold without desire, bringing more beauty, more wonder than ever before. Let life flow and you will flow, ever-changing but ever-aware.
Rest and movement are the two sides of action. They create a cycle of creative endeavor. When you start any project, there is a time to think and a time to get the job done. Everyone needs total support. “All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy” is an old saying that illustrates the point. See how this philosophy works with your thoughts, recognizing which thoughts may be calm or full of desire. If you can discern the difference, you can even begin to choose which thought you want to cultivate. This consciousness is the seat of power; You are no longer a victim. You can consciously choose your response and initiate any thought you have.
When you feel angry or frustrated, it indicates that you are struggling with the way of the world. If you get what you want by force or by creating stress for the other, the result will be negative energy and emotions in the affected parties. Revenge and violence are the result of expressing negative energy. Negative energy can be sublime or very dense depending on how and what caused the negative energy to arise in the first place. These energy patterns are not recognized by the unconscious mind, and negative energies are repeated over and over again by individuals in a series of actions and reactions over many lifetimes.
The Old Testament law for justice was expressed as “an eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth.” This led to the belief that wrongs can only be rectified by making similar mistakes as punishment to the offender. Capital punishment in our current judicial system is an expression of this old sense of justice. Do two wrongs make a right? It makes sense to remove someone from society for crimes that include murder. But killing someone for revenge creates the mindset that killing others is an acceptable way to settle differences. This individual and collective belief is a continuation of the same violence that led to the crime in the first place. So Jesus said, “But I say to you who hear me: Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you. If someone slaps you on one cheek, turn to him.” . Also if someone takes your coat, do not prevent him from taking your coat. Give to everyone who asks you, and if someone takes what is yours, do not ask for it back. Do to others as you would have them do to you.” There is a way out.
When stress and conflict become so destructive or unbearable, the egoic mind breaks down and can no longer cope under the burden of frustration and mental pain. Consciousness can arise in the void created by the disintegration of the ego. Awareness comes and gives relief in the form of peace and harmony. When you let go of trying to control a difficult situation, you can accept your situation and move toward a resolution with that acceptance. The mind can project whatever it wants. If you want peace, then peace is your reality. Your conscious mind creates your experience of the world. However, as you interpret the reality of your world, you will either raise awareness or create more conflict. Watch your thoughts carefully as they are the gateway to your growing awareness. Decisions and action can be taken without imposing expectations on top of events. It is conscious doing, the ability to act in the world without attachment to the outcome. Believing that whatever happens is absolutely for the best. Let life live, love with all your heart what is, enjoy life lived in the awareness of the present moment.
