The human body is simply a vessel for the emotional and spiritual beings that we are. The primary function of the sympathetic nervous system is to stimulate the body’s fight-or-flight response. Fight-or-flight is a physiological response to a perceived harmful threat, attack, or survival threat. The structure of this entire autonomic system helps prepare the body to cope with stress and danger, as well as help the body return to a state of rest afterwards.

Remember that times in previous generations were much simpler. Most families then had two parents, one of whom usually took care of the children. Today’s times are very different and the challenges of two working parents or in many cases, single parent families are many. Most of the time, most of us are scattered trying to complete all the necessary things with no time to relax.

Because of this constant stress of life during this time, we usually live most of our days in the sympathetic nervous system. Hence, causing pain and suffering, sickness or even disease. It’s our body’s way of telling us to stop, listen, and slow down, which most of us rarely do.

It is only a physical system that our body was designed for. Now let’s think about our feelings. When you are constantly in fight or flight mode, your emotions become scattered and less than positive. Negative emotions such as constant stress, depression, anxiety, constant excitement, and possible emotional pain from our past are all traumatic emotional energy.

Negative emotional energy also enters the physical body, manifesting as aches and pains in our daily lives. This is your body’s way of trying to remove this energy, and in most cases, if you stop and listen to your body, these symptoms will subside and your body will recover naturally. When you continue to neglect your body, it creates long-lasting effects such as illness and disease.

So stop treating your pain symptoms and listen to your body. Take time to rest. We all need a reset button for ourselves every day to stay healthy. I’m not saying you can’t be superman/woman and get it all done in one day, because you probably can and probably will. Most of us have become accustomed to this daily lifestyle, but at what cost? Is it right for your health? This is a hard lesson for most but think of the loved ones around you. Don’t you wish for them to stay healthy and balanced for years to come? Because I’m pretty positive they want it for both of you.

When you feel unbalanced, not well, or in pain, remember that your body is trying to tell you something. And often, physical problems manifest in less than positive emotional places. So treat your entire being with balance and relaxation to help you determine the root cause, which you can then deal with and fully heal. Throwing medicine at a symptom will only mask it, but the underlying problem is still alive. The core issues grow and grow and at a certain point they make you stop and listen.
