Be the King or Queen of No Matter What
Have you ever experienced a float tank? Recently I spent an entire night in a float tank, also known as a sensory deprivation chamber or isolation tank; It was a 7 hour float from midnight to 7 am. What a trip! I’ve floated many times before, but never for this long. In the tank, as your body and physical sensations disappear, you become pure consciousness-energy, pure awareness. This is a profound experience "going in" Without all distractions from the outer material world, you automatically become aware of what is within. Time becomes infinite and everything becomes available when you open to inner experience.
Now, while most of my float was beautiful, mysterious, and magical, I had moments of worry and concern. It wasn’t about the float. No, my car was broken into a few days ago and that unpleasant incident still invaded my thoughts.
Have you ever vandalized your home or car? How did you handle it?
On a transformational path or spiritual journey, you may experience moments where you are present to see how much you have grown. Some of these moments are those that follow challenges in your life; You can compare how you handled a particular situation versus how you would have handled it in the past. These are nice moments that are usually marked by a comment, such as, "Wow, I’ve grown up a lot, because in the past I would have XYZ’d in that situation (feeling overwhelmed, depressed, angry, and mad for a few days, or whatever), and this time I did the ABC’s (handled it smoothly, relaxed and present, traversing was doing etc.)."
A car break-in was one such experience where my growth became clear to me. I stopped by my local grocery store at 8pm on a Sunday night to pick up some supplies for the coming week. I was in the store for about 30 minutes. When I got out and opened the back of my new SUV to load the groceries, I noticed my backpack wasn’t there. I was sure I had put it there, so I looked in the back seat where I saw a bunch of broken glass. Someone had broken the rear passenger window and stolen my bag. This is one of those challenging moments I mentioned – not a big one, in the relative scheme of things, but big enough for me to take a little test.
Of course that was my first and natural reaction "Damn! I can’t believe it! really? Someone broke my new car window and stole my backpack? In the grocery store parking lot at 8pm! Come on!" I felt a jolt of unpleasant surprise, followed by anger, then disbelief, then acceptance, and then a move towards satisfaction. This all happened in about five minutes as I surveyed the damage and assessed next steps.
Bruce Lee once said "Under pressure you will not rise to the level of your expectations, you will fall to the level of your practice." A practice known as ITP (Integral Transformative Practice). "Taking a hit as a gift," That’s what I call "Looking good" In my training program. This practice definitely served me well that day! Here’s how it works: You first absorb the truth and reality of the situation and everything you experience (thoughts, feelings, sensations, etc.); Allow all of you. Since everything is energy, the most efficient option is to allow the energy to move and flow and offer no resistance, only awareness.
Given my level of practice, the energy moved through me relatively quickly, and within about five minutes I proceeded to find the positives and gifts in the situation. Here’s what I saw:
1) The thief broke one window.
2) Only my backpack was stolen and nothing else.
3) My new computer was not in my backpack (but it was the day before),
4) He or she only received two books, some notes, an old iPod touch, and Maui Jim sunglasses.
5) I didn’t like those sunglasses anyway.
6) I look at my notes a lot; It’s time to stop watching this message and start doing it.
7) The universe is telling me it’s time to hide behind my sunglasses, take them off, and allow the world to look me in the eye.
8) Maybe the transformational books and notes they stole will give the thief a little exposure, a gift from me to him or her.
9) A feeling of sympathy for the criminal who believes that in order to get what he/she wants, he/she must steal it from others.
10) What a great opportunity to practice.
11) I might have something to write about in a future Mojo article. Indeed I will!
With this insight I was literally laughing out loud as I drove home with my groceries as the freezing wind blew into my car.
My practice continued with this phenomenon as I worked to correct it. Practicing "go with the flow," For three days I did nothing about it; I didn’t even clean the car window. I had more important things to do and the time just didn’t feel right. But I did "feel in" Here’s my expected result: the window will be fixed quickly and efficiently, for like-new condition, for $300 or less. $500 or more felt painful, while less than $300 felt unrealistic.
Since my intentions were clear I tried calling the dealership I bought the car from, for a comparable price, but couldn’t get through twice! Aside from that, I called the dealership I bought the car from and they said if they did it at their shop it would be $833 dollars!! Holy moly! However, they told me that they had just started sending the windshield work out to an outside company the day before and that they would be happy to give me that number (note, a shop that doesn’t make sense in a logical, linear world. The work would refer me to someone else, however I In the metaphysical, energetic reality I was echoing, it was). Sure, I said, and called them there and then.
The very next day a window technician from this other company picked up the OEM glass from the dealer, brought it to my house, thoroughly cleaned all the glass in the car, installed the window in like-new status, and billed me $255! Like magic.
As passion test facilitators we teach our clients to practice "No intention, no focus, no stress." This means: Clarify what your intention is, act towards it, and pay attention as it unfolds, then surrender and relax into reality as it unfolds, without expectation. It really works. However, it takes practice.
So now, back to my night float. The Float Center is located in an area of Oakland that isn’t exactly super-safe. Having recently experienced my car being broken into, I fell into a float tank with thoughts that my car had been stolen, vandalized or vandalized somehow. But I let them float. I knew I could handle whatever happened. I affirmed again and again: "I’m the king of no matter what. Any hit will be a gift and is always good in every situation."
When you get down to it, the only thing to fear is yourself. If you realize that what you fear is not something external happening, but how you will experience and deal with it, you have taken the first big step. Then, when you realize that you can handle anything and everything, you will have no fear. When you have nothing to fear, you are "King or Queen doesn’t matter!"
Look back on a challenging experience in your life. How did you handle it? How could you have handled it better, more efficiently, more effectively? What practice can you adopt to deal more effectively with challenging aspects of your life? What situations might arise in which you could practice these new ways of being? Choose and commit your new practice to these upcoming scenarios.
Congratulations – you’re on your way to becoming one "King or queen doesn’t matter." And one step closer to your mojo!
